A lawyer and an auctioneer who caused a
public uproar after demolishing a house
of a couple in Westlands Nairobi has
been charged with robbery with violence
and malicious damage to property.
Robbery with violence is a capital
offence and a serious crime with a
maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Zacharia Wakhungu Baraza who was out on
bond appeared before Senior Principal
Magistrate Robinson Ondieki where he
pleaded not guilty to two counts of
robbery with violence and malicious
damage to property contrary to section 2
and section 339 (1) of the penal code.
The state informed the court that the
accused with others not before court at
Westlands-School lane within Nairobi
County Kenya violently robbed Nikai
Batuk Shah and Avani Niraj Shah of their
electronic appliances, jewels and
assorted household goods & all valued at
18,097,000 Kenya shillings.
In separate count the accused on the
same day of 4th November 2022 at
Westlands-School lane area in Nairobi
County within the republic of Kenya.
jointly with others not before court,
willfully and unlawfully damaged a house
valued at Ksh. 20,000,000
He was released on a bond of 5 million
surety of the same or a cash bail of 2
million Kenya shillings pending further
directions on Monday 28th of November
year 2022 at 9am East Africa Time.
