The State application for mental assessment

was granted after a brief submission before

Lady Justice Ngenye Macharia at Milimani Law

Court Nairobi County Kenya on Thursday 16th

April 2020 at 10.53 am East Africa Time.

Where the suspect Emmanuel Ambunya

Oyombe who was arrested on Wednesday 15th

April 2020 on allegation of killing University of

Leeds Student Carlton Maina in the sprawling

slum of Kibera Nairobi was to undergo for

medical check up.

The incident occurred in the year 2018 where it

is also alleged that the deceased while walking

back home in the company of friends after

watching English Premier league lost his life

after being shot.

The court was not informed by both the

State Prosecution and the defence on the

circumstances that led to the deceased being

killed.

Maina an electronic engineer at Leeds

University in UK

met his death on a holiday in Kenya, at his

home in Kibera sprawling slum Nairobi County.

The suspect will appear before Lady Justice

Ngenye Macharia on Thursday 23rd April 2020

where he will be charged with murder, contrary

to section 203 as read with section 204 of the

penal code cap 63 laws of Kenya.

It is alleged that on 22nd December 2019

Emmanuel Ambunya killed Carlton Maina 23

year old electric Engineering student of Leeds

University.
