A relief for commutters matatu plying

western part of Kenya route after high

court stopped the intended relocation

of matatu terminus from city center to

the newly build green park stage .

Justice Hedwig Ongudi issued a status

quo until the application filed before

her is heard and determined.

The petioners from various SACCOS had

filed a petition protesting a move to

remove them from the City Central

business district.

Governor Sakaja had issued orders of

relocation, informed the public that the

City center is congested and they are

working on modalities to decongest the

town center.

In the their application through lawyer

Wicliff Omaiyo the applicants argue that

the green park stage was initially

constructed to accomodate matatus plying

within Nairobi city

The petition further states park was to

serve residents living within the city

environ and not long distance shuttles

who need a special design of stage for

long distance travellers.

“The Governor of Nairobi should

understand well type operations of long

distance travellers and tye vehicles,

because they need offices to store

luggage of travellers and also for

advance booking , and since huge money

is transacted the place must be secured

from criminals” said the applicants.

,Madaraka Prestige Shuttle, Transline

Kemera prestige Sacco , Great Rift

Shuttle Services , Legacy Luxury

shuttle,described the directive by the

County Government of Nairobi and The

Governor as discriminatory and

selective.

The matter was place before High Court

Judge on Wednesday 30th November 2022

under certificate of urgency, where

conservatory order was issued stopping

the County Government and the Governor

from implementing their directive until

it is heard and determined.

The matter will be mentioned on 13th of

December 2022 for more directions.
