ELDERLY MEN ALLEGEDLY STOLE 11M FROM 1992 ETHNIC CLASHES VICTIMS

Directors of Kenya National Organisation for Victims of Ethnic

Clashes were arrested on Tuesday 08th June 2021 without warrant

of arrest and arraigned before lower criminal court at Nairobi

Milimani where they were charged with several counts.

 

 

 

 

Johnstone Kimiri Ngugi and his co accused Jackson Kigo Mwangi

pleaded not guilty before Nairobi’s Senior Principal Magistrate

Kennedy Cheruiyot, where it was alleged that they conspired to

defraud 1992 Victims of Ethnic Clashes over seven million Kenya

shillings and the second accused Mwangi also pleaded not guilty to

Stealing over four million Kenya shillings property of Ethnic clashes

victims in Rift Valley Province.

 

 

 

 

 

It was in the year 1992 during the powerful ruling party KANU with

the Late former President Daniel Toroitich Moi as the Head of State,

where the Country second Liberators were agitating for the multi

party Democracy, struggling to change the life of ordinary Citizens

from dictatorial power system.

 

 

 

 

 

Then the worst happened where majority of one Community were

massacred and several uprooted from the Rift Valley Region with

the most affected area turning out to be Molo region, as women

dressed their younger male children using female dresses to save

them from blood thirsty killers.

 

 

 

 

 

Later the over three thousand internal refugees Ethnic clashes

victims formed an idea to contribute 20,000 Kenya shillings each in

a bid to look for alternative place to settle after being evicted from

Rift Valley violently where they lost properties and several of their

families killed.

 

 

 

 

The 1992 Ethnic clashes victims made a decision to buy land in

Kitengela  Kajiado County to settle down, 29 years their

dream was sabotaged after the two Directors of the National

Organisation for Victims of Ethnic Clashes allegedly stole a huge

amount of their savings.

 

 

 

 

Nairobi’s Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot freed the

accused on a lenient cash bail, due to the health status of the

accused and their age with more direction on the criminal matter to

be issued on 23rd June year 2021.

 

 

 

 

 

On diverse dates between 14th August 2018 and 9th September

2020 it is alleged that the second accused Jackson Kigo Mwangi, at

Kariobangi Area Starehe sub County of Nairobi County Kenya, the

accused stole 4,129,000 Kenya shillings the Property of Kenya

National Organisation for Victims of Ethnic Clashes.

 

 

 

 

 

While in a separate charge both the accused Johnstone Kimiri Ngugi

and Jackson Kigo Mwangi conspired to defraud the victims

7,099,000 Kenya shillings.

 

 

 

 

 

The State Prosecutor Panyako did not object to the accused being

released on bond but assured the Court and the Complainants the

victims that the State is ready to speed up the trial as a matter of

Public Interest.
