MANAGER ALLEGEDLY STOLE LIQUOR WORTH OVER 25M

A middle aged sales manager was arraigned

before Nairobi’s Chief Magistrate Martha

Mutuku and charged with several counts of

stealing, making false documents and uttering

false documents .

Kelvin Kamau Macharia former sales manager

at Patiala Distillers is alleged of stealing 1840

cases of konyagi, 176 cases of Tuborg, 3534

cases faxe and 788 cases of Red bull all valued

at 25,604,466 million Kenya shillings.

The offence was committed 01st January, 2018

and 11 of November 2020 at Embakassi within

Nairobi County Kenya.

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the ten

counts and submitted an oral application

through his lawyer requesting the court to grant

him lenient bond.

In response the State Prosecutor Mr. Gikunda

informed the Court that they intend to file

affidavit opposing the bond.

Through the lawyer watching brief for Patiala

Distillers Mr. Brian Muriithi Muthomi informed

the the State prosecution that the accused

Kelvin Kamau Macharia is a flight risk and there

is a warrant of arrest issued by the senior

resident Magistrate at Makadara law Court

where the accused absconded after being

granted police bond.

Kevin was also accused of stealing by servant

after he unlawfully adjusted invoices totaling

5,828 776 million Kenya shillings, the property

of Patiala Distillers which came to his

possession through employment.

The accused on several occasions intentionally

and unlawfully made invoices delivery number

4433, 441, 57, 2257, 4795, 2259 addressed to

customers with their details purporting to be

the genuine invoices for Patiala Distillers a fact

the accused Kelvin knew was false.

The Court was informed that Kelvin fraudulently

uttered a forged invoice purporting to be invoice

of Patiala Distillers on several occasions.

He will appear in court ten before Senior

Principal Magistrate Martha Nanzushi on

Tuesday 08th for the hearing of his bond

application after the Chief Magistrate Martha

Mutuku dismissed his request to be freed.
