MEETING TO ASSESS REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN PROGRESS

Representatives of the IGAD Member States are
currently meeting in Nairobi County , Kenya to
assess the development for the Regional
Infrastructure Master Plan due in December
2020.
The meeting is seeking to educate and inform
stakeholders of way projects will be designed in
an environmentally and socially acceptable
manner with the necessary mitigation
measures.
The two-day regional workshop has been
organised and facilitated by the IGAD Economic
Cooperation and Social Development Division
with assistance from African Development
Bank (AfDB).
The meeting is being attended by over 50
participants drawn from environmental and
social issues connected NGOs and non-state
actors considering that Infrastructure
development initiatives need to adhere to the
right codes of environmental and social
developmental requirements, espousing the
motto of sustainable development.
