PROF OGOLA FILES PETITION TO STOP PRESIDENT RUTO’S DECISION ON SINGLE DIGITAL PAYMENTS PLATFORM

By Chris Ojow

President of Operation Linda Jamii, Prof

Fredrick Ogola has been directed by

Justice Hedwig Ong’udi to serve all

parties by end of business and his

petition challenging the decision of the

president on digital platform cited as

urgent pending hearing.

Ogola is seeking for a court order to

quash President William Ruto’s alleged

Unilateral & Arbitrary direction on the

closure of all Government digital

Payments so as to allow on-boarding of

all government services, national and

County, into one digital payment

platform, e-Citizen.go.ke effective 30th

September 2023.

The petitioner termed the President

orders as unconstitutional and contrary

to public finance management since

there no any framework for managing the

proposed single digital payment

platform.

He alleges that public participation in

formulating the single digital payment

platform has been ignored and it is

suspect to centralize all National and

County government payment into a single

digital platform.

Prof Ogola alleges that the president is

the supplier of the platform where the

payments will be taking place hence its

for Personal benefits just like other

platforms such as Hustler fund.

“Allowing single platform for payment

will render 237 businesses to close

shop and 74,237 to lose their jobs

during this economic hard times” says

Ogola.
