Former Kenyan Sports and Heritage Cabinet
Secretary Rashid Mohammed Echesa, who was
appointed by the President of the Republic of
Kenya Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta on 26th of
January the year 2018, secretly filed a one page
application of 600 words seeking for the release
of his impounded vehicles, a gun and his bank
account be unfreeze.
Through his officer of the Court Evans Ondieki,
the applicant Echesa former pupil of Shibale
Primary School from 1990 to 1997 and dropped
out due to fees, filed the application at Nairobi
Milimani Chief Magistrate Court on Monday
18th May 2020 at 10.16 am East Africa Time.
On Monday 02nd March the year 2020,
Detectives from the Director of Criminal
Investigations under serious crimes
department, raided the home of the former
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National
Youth Chairman who later joined Jubilee Party
under the Deputy President and impounded five
vehicles allegedly acquired fraudulently.
The one page application drafted on Monday
18th May 2020 and filed on the same day, was
received and rubber stamped by Milimani Chief
Magistrate on the same day, where direction
was also issued as a matter of urgency and the
application to be heard on Tuesday 19th May
2020 at 9am East Africa Time.
The Director of Criminal Investigations
established that the five vehicles belonging to
Rashid Echesa who went for basic formal
education were acquired fraudulently including
the Range Rover Vogue KCR 786H, which was
impounded on February 17th the year 2020
when the former Cabinet Secretary was
arrested at Harambee Annex House over
allegations of being involved in 39 Billions
Kenya shillings fake arms deal.
Former Cabinet Secretary Echesa who was
replaced with Amina Mohammed on 01st
March the year 2019 during a Cabinet reshuffle
by the Head of State and is said to have made
history by becoming the first Cabinet Secretary
in the Country without sitting for Kenya
Certificate of Primary Education, want the lower
criminal Court in Nairobi Milimani to issue
orders releasing his Range Rover Vague Vehicle,
his confiscated gun and unfreezing his bank
account.
The Cabinet Secretary who was sacked on
Friday and appointed in January 2018 where he
only served for one year and one month, in the
application informed the Court that he’s going
through difficulties financially and hence he
was humbly requesting the Court to issue
orders unfreezing his bank accounts.
The village boy from Shibale in Mumias
Kakamega County Kenya and briefly worked at
the struggling Mumias Sugar Company as a
casual labourer, in the application filed before
Chief Magistrate Court Nairobi Milimani
requested for an urgent mention of case
number 271 of the year 2020, for the release of
his gun, car and reopening of his bank account.
Rashid Mohammed who once dared the African
Union (AU) Special Envoy Raila Amollo Odinga
to sack him in public, was arrested on 13th
February 2020 and charged on 18th February
2020 together with his five co accused with
several counts of Conspiracy to commit a
felony, making a document without authority,
obtaining money by false pretence, uttering
false document, forgeries, impersonating and
attempt to commit a felony.
Where he pleaded not guilty before Nairobi’s
Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruyiot
at Milimani law Court and fought hard through
his team of lawyers to oppose the State
Prosecution objection on being released on
bond and later after being placed in Police
custody for several days released on hash bond
conditions.
The Former Cabinet Secretary once again, his
name was dragged in the human trafficking
saga, where it was alleged that he signed a
document granting the passage of several
Nepalese youthful girls in their 20s in the
Country as Cultural dancers, only to be arrested
within the City high ends clubs in the leafy
suburbs operating as strip dancers.
