MAN WHO STOLE “UNGA” FROM NAIVAS SUPERMARKET BACK IN COURT WITH BHANG.

Calvin Chivondo, from Kakamega County

Shinyalu, made headlines after he was

imprisoned for a year for stealing

maize flour “Unga” from Naivas

Supermarket Nairobi is again in court .

Chivondo was arraigned before Nairobi’s

Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi where

he was charged with being in possession

of a narcotic drug specifically bhang.

The accused after a public uproar led

by Azimio Presidential candidate Raila

Amollo Odinga who condemned the

Magistrate for jailing a thief who

stole unga , and his fine was paid by

the former Nairobi County Governor

Mike Sonko has suddenly developed

interest of being a State guest.

The accused alleged that the law

enforcers arrested him while drinking

alcohol along Globe roundabout Cinema,

Nairobi and accused him of smoking

bhang and being in possession of the

drug .

The duty Court was informed that the

accused was in possession of 400 grams

grams of bhang worth 2000. He pleaded

not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Ochoi released him on

a bond of 100,000 surety of the same or

a cash bail of 30,000 Kenya shillings

plus one contact person pending trial

on 5th August year 2022.
