who is accused of authoring a letter
putting to contain assassination plot of
President William Ruto will call 32
state officer as his witnesses in the
matter
Itumbi and his co-accused, Samuel Gateri
told Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi
that they intend to produce a video
recording, which, according to him,
shows what allegedly transpired during
the May 14, 2019 meeting at La Mada
Hotel, off Thika Road.
The two were put on their defense after
the court found that they had a case to
answer.
Through lawyers Katwa Kigen, Ms Waweru
Wanjiru, the duo told the court they
will be calling five elected senators,
three appointed Cabinet Secretaries, 14
elected Members of Parliament, five
former law makers and five parastatal
heads who attended the alleged La Mada
meeting.
The accused were charged with several
counts of programming their personal
phones and authoring a letter alleging
there was a plot to assassinate the then
Deputy President William Ruto, now the
President of Kenya.
The letter which was allegedly authored
by the Itumbi alleged that the meeting
was planned by state officers to discuss
the alleged assassination plot.
Gateri was to be a Prosecution witness
in the case as their first witness.
However, he later disowned his
statement which purported to implicate
Itumbi claiming he had been coerced to
do so.
The accused will defend themselves on
March 29th year 2023.
